The Seven Veils of Intimacy

This is based upon a Taoist Sexual Secret...the understanding that we consist of subtle layers, and intimacy is the journey of entering those layers together with another.
When we truly understand these veils, then we can become a master of intimacy on a much deeper level. It gives a new insight into the essence of sexual union. Adjusted Version In many version of the Seven Veils the final veil is listed as ejaculation. To keep more aligned with the Taoist Sexual Arts, we have adjusted the veils to include the energy body intimacy and remove ejaculation as a necessary veil. It is thus left to the couple's own discretion whether they choose to end with ejaculation or sublimation (full body orgasm without ejaculation). Our version is listed in summary on the right.
This over-emphasis on penetration is entirely different from the Tao Tantric perspective. The ancient erotic arts taught much about opening mysterious portals and gateways. Books and art were created to show the many ways to engage in erotic intimacy to activate deeper levels of pleasure and higher levels of consciousness.
Rather than seeing each level as an obstacle to overcome, the ancient arts taught that each level brought its own gifts and awakenings. Trying to bypass any of these levels was a grave mistake as the depth of the final penetrative union depended upon the journey itself. |
The Seven Veils of Intimacy

One of the gifts of working consciously with veils, is the discovery that desire met with awareness activates energy. This energy then contributes to the union of the couple.
Therefore the couple should not think of the veils in terms of "what is not allowed", but instead think of expanding awareness into more layers of intimacy together.

Timing of the Journey
The timing of the journey is up to the couple. ..however, with each new veil, you still spend at least ten minutes on each preceding veil within each intimacy session, working through the veils in order. You may choose to open one veil per day, and do a seven-day journey. Or take three days per veil. Some couples choose to spend longer such as a week per veil or even one month!

The Seven Veils, step-by-step
First Veil- The Energy Body
Touching without physical touch; transforming desire into energy.
In this veil the couple explore the space between their two physical bodies. The explore desire for each other, and the intensity created by un-manifest desires and anticipation. They caress each other's energy body and awaken to the crackling sensation of activated energy.
Second Veil- Innocent Caress
Gentle touch of the face and hands, discovering each other through innocent intimacy.
In full clothing, the couple explore moving from anticipation to the first touch. Piercing through the energy veil to make first contact with the physical body. Desire is channeled into the caress of hands and faces. One may kneel before the beloved and massage their feet. Kissing is permitted but not on the lips. The hint of what is yet to come...
Third Veil- Exploring the Landscape
The couple begin to touch under the clothes, yet still not on the erogenous zones.
The anticipation can now begin to expand into the wider landscape, with hands delicately exploring beneath the clothes. The contours of the beloved are felt as if discovering a new landscape. That long-awaited touch tingles across the skin, sending ripples of pleasure. Erogenous zones are still left untouched, waiting, waiting... Kisses are brought to the lips, but without tongues.
Fourth Veil: Animal Arousal
The couple begin to lick, bite and suck. Buttocks and breasts are caressed (no nipples or anus).
The animal is activated though licking, biting and sucking the skin. The primal urge for erogenous zones starts to be activated through touching buttocks and breasts, yet not nipples or anus. The focus is more upon the curves and the juicy energy of the flesh. Kissing can happen, with sucking and licking, but still no tongue kissing! Wildness may be heavily activated at this level!
Fifth Veil- Skin to Skin
The couple now take their clothes off other than underwear, erotic arousal is brought to a long-lasting shimmering peak through the touch.
Finally that pleasure of bringing skin to skin, as the clothing is removed. Maybe the couple strip for one another; maybe they take each other's clothes off. The removal of clothing can be enjoyed as a ritual of unveiling, a ceremony of revealing. At this level the couple are playing with fire, dancing at the edge of powerful desires. They can fully kiss with tongues, allowing the full passionate union at the mouth.
Nipples come into play, but anus and genitals are still left out of bounds. The couple learns how to ride the edge, watching as waves of passion rise and fall. Energy orgasms may ripple through the body as the energy is built to a high level.
Sixth Veil- Orgasmic Playground
Now the couple can enter the realms of pleasure in all aspects other than sexual penetration. Play in the garden of bliss!
The genitals and anus are introduced, and the couple can enjoy the full playground with everything besides penetration or ejaculation. This is the time to dissolve into deep bliss, feasting upon each other's bodies. You may drink each other's juices and melt in their energy. Exploring every erogenous zone, and taking each other into heights of ecstasy. Holding back from the seventh veil can give the couple realms of pleasure they have not yet even dreamed of. All of these aspects often thought of merely as foreplay, become erotic pleasure in its own right. The myriad of orgasmic pleasures are discovered...
Seventh Veil: Divine Union.
The couple are ready to take their union into the final portal- the penetration. By now, the physical, emotional, energetic and subtle bodies are all prepared for a deep and profound union.
After each veils has been discovered and explored, the couple are now well-prepared for the deepest union. Rather than just a physical penetration, the opening of the preceding six veils makes a leeway for a multi-dimensional deeply connected union. There is no prescribed way that the love-making must be, because the journey of the veils will lead automatically to an experience that will be led by energy rather than by the mind. By the time you have reached the final portal, you can just ride the waves...
To come or not to come...that is the question!
At this stage arises the question of ejaculation. In many versions of the Seven Veils, ejaculation is suggested as the last veil. However, traditionally the Taoist Sexual Arts taught to avoid ejaculating by pulling the energy up the spine and into the microcosmic orbit (known as the Big Draw or the Orgasmic Upward Draw). Therefore, it would be more aligned with the Taoist way to follow one of these practices rather than ejaculating. To spend so much time cultivating energy only to blow it all on the last veil seems like a big shame!
So we will leave this to your own choice. Rather than "ejaculation control", we suggest developing "ejaculatory choice"...meaning that you can choose if you expel your energy out (ejaculation) or pull it up (injaculation/ upward draw).
